COMPELLED TO ENGAGE
Jesus | People | Purpose
Jesus greater than I. People over me. Purpose, what you do has significance.
Our Calling.
Because the need is the call, we partner with community and kingdom organizations, and influence with gospel intentionality.
Cultural Values.
We meet people where they are and walk with them as they pursue Jesus.
Grace is defined as Jesus inexhaustibly meeting us at our point of need. We extend compassion and mercy to all who enter our doors . Lives are messy and we are committed to the journey of learning to respond to the work of the Holy Spirit as He changes us and others helping them to serve the Lord as they follow Jesus.
We believe relationships are intentional, not accidental.
Friendship is a two-way street, it takes all parties to make them work. God is divinely connecting us together, but we must do all we can to build those connections. Those of us who are already connected must look for ways to invite others into the rhythms of our lives remembering that ministry extends beyond church services. For those that are new must take advantage of the opportunities that are available. Platforms of connection include: personal invites, outreach and service opportunities, and small groups.
No matter what; we speak life, we give hope.
Sometimes it is easy to lay down the law of do’s and don’ts, but we prefer to live by values not regulations! The gospel is good news! Jesus came to give life and hope! The very reason we can even live for God is by the grace of Jesus who paved the way and the Holy Spirit who empowers us to accomplish it! So we remind each other who we are in Christ and encourage each other with the words, ‘You can do this, God is for you!”
We are a home for the Holy Spirit, therefore we practice the Presence.
God does not dwell in buildings or temples, but rather in us! He is building a home where He can come and meet with us! WOW, what a privilege! Not only does He go where we go but He is with us in a powerful way when we gather for church. So we prepare ourselves to not only meet with Him but also to be used by Him through times in the word, prayer, gatherings, ministry times, and worship. We are the people of God with the ability to shed God’s love through faith, powerful insights, miracles, healings, comfort, and life-giving words. Therefore we practice by letting the Holy Spirit work through us to minister to others. We come to our gathering times with an expectation that the Holy Spirit is going to manifest His presence!
We are a conduit of generosity; keep giving your best.
We desire to be good stewards of what God has given us! All that we have comes from Him so we use it to build the kingdom knowing that He will replenish what ever it is we need. We look in our hands to see what it is that we have and to the measure that God has given us we give it back to the best of our ability. So we keep sowing seed!
Lets keep things simple, yet significant.
We continually work at being better at what God has called us to do: better organization, better communication and better processes. However, life is complicated enough we don’t want to make it difficult to serve the Lord. We want to make serving at City For The City simple and at the same time understanding that something worth while takes commitment and sacrifice. We want your next steps to be attainable with the greatest possible impact.
Having fun together builds community, so we make room to laugh.
We try not to take ourselves too seriously so we build times in our lives to have fun. It is our goal that when our children grow up they will have found memories of church being a place they enjoyed and place they can’t wait to go to when they are old! We are better together so we spend quality and quantity time doing life together!
We foster an environment where people know their passions and ideas will be heard.
We want to create an atmosphere of healthy risk-taking so we encourage people to step into the things the Lord is calling them to do. Is the Lord stirring you to step out in faith? Have you had a dream for years and wondered perhaps how the Lord wants to use you? Do you have an idea or a vision of how ministry might be better? What if…. we trust the Holy Spirit will guide us as we consider the what if’s together.
