Be Heard

“A Church For The City Devotional”

Prayer is not meant to be burdensome, or confusing. I often hear My children saying things like, “I don’t know what to pray about”, “I get distracted during prayer”, or “Does God even hear me?”

I have a deep desire to communicate with you, and to hear you open up to Me. I don’t desire scripted, formulaic prayers. The prayer I am looking for is one that is honest and laid-open before me. Speak with Me, I want to hear from you.

Do you have a need? Do you have a passion you want to tell Me about? Do you have people to forgive? Just ask. I reward persistent prayer. Trust that I am good. I will give you exactly what you need according to your prayer. You are not praying to a distant, far-off deity. No, you are being heard by Me, the Living God. The God who chose to die in your place in order that you may be free, and that My Spirit may dwell in you. Pray, and know that you are heard by a God who loved you first.

Matthew 7:7-11

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
